How many people play the 29 card game?
Four people play in two partnerships. Partners sit opposite each other.
How many cards are used?
The game uses 32 cards: 7 through ace from each suit, with the unusual ranking J, 9, A, 10, K, Q, 8, 7.
How many points are in a deal?
The cards carry 28 points in total. Some versions add a point for the last trick; this site’s beginner simulator does not.
Does a player have to follow suit?
Yes. If you hold the led suit, you must play it. When you cannot follow suit, this simulator reveals the hidden trump and allows any card.
Must I play trump when I cannot follow suit?
Not in the beginner rules used here. You may discard another suit instead.
Can I play without an account?
Yes. The browser game is free practice against three computer players and does not require registration, downloads, prizes or payments.
Are all regional rules identical?
No. Bidding, last-trick points, pairs, doubles and trump reveal rules vary. The How to play page states the exact version used here.
